As graduation gets closer every day, students at FVHS have been left with one question. When are Water Wars? This long-anticipated tradition has been a highlight for past graduating classes, yet this year, there’s been silence. With graduation being a couple of months away students are wondering if they will get to participate in this tradition or if the silence of this long awaited tradition foreshadows its cancellation.
Water Wars is a senior year tradition at many high schools where students form teams and compete to eliminate each other using water guns. The game usually takes place outside of school hours and lasts for several weeks. The goal is to be the last team standing by successfully soaking opponents while avoiding getting hit yourself.
The spring semester of senior year is supposed to be a time when seniors can lay back and have fun while enjoying their last few months of high school. It’s supposed to be a time of unforgettable experiences.
Seniors at FVHS have been looking forward to this event since freshman year, so why did they decide to stop?
Senior Carson Allen said, “I have been so excited for Water Wars. It’s the last fun event before graduation.”
Some people might argue that we should stop the tradition of water wars because it is unsafe and causes disruption. While this may be true, if enough precaution is taken, water wars can be a safe and organized event.
Many rules have already been implemented to ensure student safety. Some of these rules are no reckless driving, no targeting people at work or school and no physical contact.
With only a couple of months left until graduation, it’s time to get students interested and talk to the OC to get this tradition back on track for one last unforgettable moment.
