According to NASA, “Climate change has significantly worsened over the years, with the average global temperature rising by roughly 2 degrees Fahrenheit since the mid-19th century.”
Close to everyday on Earth, climate change has significantly gotten worse due to lack of human help in making our environment better, which has weakened our atmosphere. Fossil fuels are a main contributor to climate change. The releasing of greenhouse gases daily weakens what protects our planet, through the release of carbon dioxide.
According to The NRDC, “Fossil fuels produce large quantities of carbon dioxide when burned. Carbon emissions trap heat in the atmosphere and lead to climate change. In the United States, the burning of fossil fuels, particularly for the power and transportation sectors, accounts for about three-quarters of our carbon emissions.”
As for the impacts of climate change, rising sea levels doesn’t seem to be spoken about enough. Our ecosystems that provide recreation and further protection of sea life are constantly being stressed out due to the irresponsibility of relying on these fuels. Coastal erosion and increasing flooding from storm surges are all putting coastal regions and residents at risk in the future.
Despite these problems, there is still room for improvement and some solutions to put an end to such issues. For example, renewable energy generates heat with little to no greenhouse gas emissions which contribute to stopping climate change.
Climate Portal says, “Renewable energy is energy from sources we cannot run out of. Some types of renewable energy, like wind and solar power, come from sources that are not depleted when used.”
Essentially, this is crucial to the well-being of our atmosphere. It is not difficult to use nor does it take up such time. Climate change is a threatening issue caused by human irresponsibility.
Clean energy can cut out pollution. It is important to protect future generations to better the health of humans and the Earth.
