Recently, Holly Springs has exploded in activity with 42,000 residents. Due to the influx of people, new areas and activities must be created for the good of the city. One of the new ideas proposed by the city in Spring 2024 was to create Eagles Landing Park.
This park features 56 acres of prime park land on Cass Holt Road near Holly Springs High School. It includes an indoor recreation center, splash pads, pickleball and basketball courts, trails, turf fields, and an all wheels skatepark. All these different activities provide a great outlet for exercise and collaboration in the community. The multimillion dollar skatepark is planned to open in 2027.
This skatepark aims to foster important life skills such as patience, resilience, and collaboration while offering a dedicated area for skateboarding, BMX, and all other wheel-based sports. Eagles Landing Park is more than just a recreational space; it will be a central gathering place that promotes connection within the growing Holly Springs community.
In the Triangle and surrounding areas, skateparks are seen more as a rarity. There are only a handful of skateparks around the area, limiting kids who aren’t able to drive to these parks, especially in the Holly Springs area. Skateboarders need to drive at least 20 minutes to the Apex Skate Park or farther for other skate parks near Raleigh or Durham. This park will allow an easy way for skaters to grow their hobby and community within the city.
Sophomore Connor Garrison explained, “I’m so excited for the new skate park to be built. I live in Fuquay, and driving 30 minutes to Apex Skate Park burns a lot of my gas.”
This new skate park will allow more possibilities for skaters like Garrison, who are passionate in their wheel sport.
Senior Chris Blackburn was extremely surprised when he learned of the new skatepark being built.
“That’s so awesome dude, I can’t wait for it to be ready to skate. I might have to go see it when they start building it; I live pretty close,” said Blackburn.
This new park will allow new possibilities and opportunities for the community of Holly Springs. Building will start soon, and hopefully the project will be a complete success by 2027.
