Four of Fuquay’s seniors committed to colleges this past week: Nick Ratnesar, Jose Melbert, Connor Castle, and Conner Everett. Let’s take a deeper look into these students and their plans for the future.
Nick Ratnesar plays lacrosse for FVHS, and will continue to play, as he has committed to Methodist University, “which is close to home for me, but far enough to have a unique life,” Ratnesar said.
The most important factor for Ratnesar was his education. He would like to get the best education he can with what he was offered.
“I almost considered not committing because I was afraid I wouldn’t get the quality of education I needed to pursue my goals,” said Ratnesar.
Fortunately, Methodist could offer him a mix of his ambitions. Ratnesar will major in biology with a pre-med concentration and potentially double major in business or chemistry.
Jose Melbert has committed to the University of Guilford to continue his soccer career at the collegiate level.
Conner Castle will be attending North Greenville University, where he will major in sports management while playing lacrosse.
Castle said, “I’m most excited to go play lacrosse with my brother. He’s going through it now, so he can teach me what I need to know. I’m excited for the challenge. It’s going to be different from high school for sure I know that.”
Conner Everett is going to be attending North Carolina Central where he will major in criminal justice. Everett will also continue to play football for NCC.
“I’m most excited to play football at the collegiate level, and I like the culture surrounding the college team,” said Everett.
With their commitments finalized, these four seniors are ready to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level. Their hard work and dedication has been key to their successes. As they take these next steps, they carry with them the lessons and experiences from their time here at Fuquay-Varina High School.
