From the time someone is born to the age they are now, there are only two fears people are born with. According to Saskatchewan Science Centre: The Science of Fear, humans have the innate fears of falling and loud noises.
Although people have two natural fears, we develop more throughout our lifetime. Most of the fears we develop are from personal experiences or social learning.
Junior Marshall Ford said, “My biggest fear I had when I was younger was bugs, especially roaches.”
While some people are scared of bugs or the dark, other people are also afraid of the natural fears; loud noises and falling.
Freshman Peyton Feldner-Turner said, “The thing I fear most, would be loud noises. As a kid I was always in a loud environment. There were always sudden loud noises, and I would never expect them.”
Do you ever have too much time to think and suddenly a terrifying thought appears in your mind? Well, this is what happened to junior Kristopher Massie.
Massie said, “I had a random thought one day that really just terrified me. Even to this day I’m still scared about what I thought of.”
Oftentimes outside influence causes us to be scared of whatever terrorizes us. But we can also scare ourselves.
Massie said, “The thing that scares me the most would be bugs crawling into my ears or nose while I’m sleeping. The only reason why it scares me is because I have no clue if someone would be able to get the bug out, and I don’t want to be stuck with a bug in my ear or brain.”
Everyone has different fears whether it’s from personal experience or from other people.
So, what scares you the most? Let us know in the comments.
