Adam Sandler is one of the most popular comedic actors of this generation. He started out doing stand up comedy, went on to SNL and is now a movie star. He has made 57 movies over the years which have accumulated many degrees of success.

“Going Overboard” is Sandler’s first movie and also his worst. This movie is really poorly made and has a nonsensical plot. It is also excruciatingly boring.

Sandler plays a side character in “Mixed Nuts” and is by far the best part of the movie. This movie is a bunch of uninteresting storylines that all connect in the third act in a boring way.

“Men, Women & Children” is well made on a technical level but everything else about it is atrocious. Most of the movie is people looking at screens and the message about technology the movie gives is pretentious and out of date.

“Coneheads” tries desperately to stretch a SNL skit into a 90 minute film but it fails. Sandler plays a very small role and the rest of the characters are uninteresting.

“Deuce Bigalow” is a Rob Schneider movie and Sandler only has one line. It is unfunny and doesn’t do anything interesting with the odd premise it has.

“Deuce Bigalow two” has the same problems as the first, but is ranked higher because Sandler has a couple of more lines.

“Spanglish” is a boring drama that falls flat on all the messages it tries to tell.

“Eight Crazy Nights” has good animation but it’s a shame that it was wasted for this movie. It is filled with immature and unfunny humor. The only good and memorable part was the song “Bum Biddy.”

“You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah” is a preteen drama that some people aren’t really able to connect with because it heavily focuses on the character’s Jewish heritage.

“Shakes the Clown” isn’t anything special at all and is just a below average 90s comedy.

“Sandy Wexler” is about a talent manager that finds his first client with actual talent. The movie tries to be a comedy but it is unfunny. The story also isn’t good so there isn’t anything to enjoy in this film.

“Grown Ups 2” doesn’t have a plot, which is supposed to be the point for these movies, but I don’t think the comedy holds up as well as the first film.

“That’s My Boy” has a couple of funny jokes but the plot is uninteresting and a lot of the jokes do fall flat.

“Spaceman” is Sandler’s latest movie and also a disappointing entry into his filmography.  The movie has amazing visuals and had good potential from the trailers for the film but the movie is one of the most boring movies of his filmography.

“Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation” is the last “Hotel Transylvania” movie to feature Sandler as Dracula and also the weakest. The plot is the worst out of the trilogy and the characters have the simplest writing.

“Ridiculous 6” is one of the oddest films in Sandler’s career. The movie is so ridiculous and out of pocket that it makes the film enjoyable to watch.

“Mr. Deeds” is a harmless movie that doesn’t really do anything special.

“The Hot Chick” is another Schneider movie with an odd premise about a popular high school girl swapping bodies with a lonely middle aged man. This one has a couple of funny moments but is nothing substantial.

“Top Five” is directed by and stars Chris Rock. It is about a comedian that tries to go into more dramatic roles but goes back to his roots as a comedian. Rock obviously reflected a lot of his own experiences onto the film.

“The Animal” is the last Schneider movie on the list and is about a man who becomes half man and half animal. This is the best Schneider movie that Adam Sandler is in because it has the best comedic moments out of them even though Sandler once again only has one line.

“Murder Mystery 2” is a sequel to the 2019 film but unlike its predecessor, the story is a lot more uninteresting and the film seems like an excuse for the cast to go on vacation in Paris.

“The Do-Over” is about two guys that fake their own deaths to go live their life on vacation, but they unexpectedly get caught up in a giant conspiracy. This movie has some pretty good comedic moments but also some pretty bad ones.

“Bulletproof” has a couple of pretty funny moments but is overall forgettable.

“Jack and Jill” is usually the most hated movie out of his career but there are a lot of funny moments to enjoy. Sandler playing twins leads to funny interactions, and the ending Dunkaccino moment is iconic.

“The Cobbler” is about a shoe repairman that gains the ability to go into the body of anyone’s shoe that he fixes. This movie isn’t anything special, but it doesn’t do anything wrong either.

“Leo” is the latest animated movie starring Sandler and is about a class pet lizard that wants to explore the world. This film is pretty generic but it might entertain younger kids.

“The Week Of” is about two dads preparing for their child’s wedding. The movie is sweet and Chris Rock has good chemistry with Sandler.

“Funny People” is one of Sandler’s earlier attempts to do a dramatic role. This is one of his weaker dramatic performances, and the movie struggles to balance its serious moments with its comedy. Also it’s hard to relate to any of the characters because they are all unlikeable.

“Bedtime Stories” is Sandler’s only Disney movie. It has a lot of the same type of humor as his other films but toned down to be more family friendly.

“Zookeeper” is about a pet caretaker at a zoo who suddenly gets the ability to talk to animals. Sandler voices one of the animals and the movie has some good comedic moments with a sweet story.

“Just Go with It” is about a plastic surgeon that enlists his assistant to pretend to be his future ex wife so he can get closer to someone else. This is the first film to feature Sandler and Jennifer Aniston and they have really good chemistry on screen. The story line is a bit predictable and mediocre, but the movie has a lot of charm to it.

“Grown Ups” is just Sandler hanging out with his friends with the cameras rolling. There’s a lot of enjoyable moments, but the lack of story holds it back a little bit.

“Pixels” was a cultural phenomenon when it was released in 2015. It brought retro video game characters into the real world. This movie gets a lot of criticism, but the amount of fun the movie has outweighs them.

“Click” is about a middle aged father that receives a remote that controls every aspect of his life. The movie has a fun premise and does interesting things with it, but what holds it back is that the film has a big tonal shift towards the end of the movie that feels out of place compared to the rest of the movie. If the rest of the movie was a little bit more serious, it would have been received a lot better.

“Murder Mystery” is the reunion of Sandler and Aniston in the same movie. The film does the murder mystery premise pretty well and has a lot of funny moments.

“The Longest Yard” is about a disgraced football quarterback that goes to prison and coaches a football team within the prison. This movie has a surprising level of depth to Sandler’s  character and the entire cast is likeable.

“Little Nicky” is one of the weirdest movies in Sandler’s filmography. Sandler plays one of the spawns of Satan to go to Earth and retrieve his brothers. Sandler has a very odd accent and hairstyle in this, but the wackiness works in the film’s favor.

“Dirty Work” is another movie where Sandler only has one line in it but this is one of the most underrated movies in his career. The reason it’s good isn’t really because of him, it is because the premise is really simple but leads to a lot of effective comedic moments. The film is about two friends that start a business where they are hired to get revenge on people in hilarious ways.

“Anger Management” stars Jack Nickleson alongside Sandler. Their chemistry works really well and the twists this movie has are pretty funny.

“Airheads” is one of the earlier films in Sandler’s career but it still holds up very well. It is about a band that holds a radio station hostage until they broadcast their tape.

“Hotel Transylvania 2” still isn’t as good as the first, but still holds up pretty well. What holds it back from surpassing the first movie is that the characters are given less interesting things to do.

“The Waterboy” is a Sandler classic that is a little lower on the list than others because of the lack of iconic moments and a little bit of a worse story.

“Blended” marked the return of Drew Barrymore and Sandler in the same movie since “The Wedding Singer” and “50 First Dates.” This movie is about Sandler and Barrymore going to Africa together and they slowly fall for each other. It is a sweet movie that has good comedic moments and it gets bonus points for having Joel McHale in the movie.

“Hubie Halloween” is one of Sandler’s most recent movies and it went straight to Netflix. However, this is one of Sandler’s best comedy movies in a long time. It feels like a classic Sandler movie that was released in the 90s but with a Halloween spin on it. The movie was so good that our former French teacher, Regis Froment, went to school with a full Hubie Dubois costume including a bike that he rode in the hallway.

“Hotel Transylvania” is a modern animated classic that is extremely popular with kids. It manages to be family friendly while still having a somewhat dark undertone to it.

“Big Daddy” is another Sandler classic that has a heartwarming father and son relationship with a lot of iconic scenes.

“I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry” is about how Kevin James’ character needs to get married for tax purposes but doesn’t want to because he still isn’t over his dead wife, so he asks his friend to fake a gay marriage. This movie has a lot of good comedic moments and a great story.

“You Don’t Mess with the Zohan” is the wildest Sandler movie. The movie is so insane that it is one of the most entertaining movies to watch. Out of any movie in his career, this film deserves a sequel the most.

“Punch-Drunk Love” is Sandler’s first dramatic role and it worked really well for him. The score in this movie is immaculate and is very memorable. Sandler also gives a wonderful performance that really showcases his potential as an actor.

“Reign Over Me” didn’t seem like it would be good. A Sandler drama about 9/11 trauma seemed like it would be boring and pretentious, but this film is great. It goes on for a little bit too long but other than that the movie is definitely worth a watch. Sandler gives another great performance alongside Don Cheadle and the film gives a good job at showing what PTSD could do to a man.

“The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected)” is fantastic. The movie does a good job delving into each character. Adam Sandler and Ben Stiller give a fantastic performance and the film has an amazing story.

“Hustle” is one of Sandler’s more recent movies that went straight to Netflix. The movie tells a good story about a basketball scout that finally finds a good international player. The film is a good underdog story and has compelling characters that you want to root for.

“The Wedding Singer” is the first movie that stars Sandler and Barry More. The movie is one of Sandler’s funniest and it has a core relationship that the audience wants to see happen.

“Billy Madison” is Sandler’s first big movie and is still one of his best. The movie is iconic and has countless memorable pieces of dialogue, such as “stop looking at me swan.”

“50 First Dates” is another Sandler and Barrymore romcom and it is the pinnacle of what everyone likes about them. The premise is really unique and sets up a hilarious dynamic between Barrymore and Sandler. It is the average Sandler movie mixed with a really heartfelt story.

“Happy Gilmore” is the best Sandler comedy. It was released one year after “Billy Madison” and the peak of Sandler’s popularity. Like that film, “Happy Gilmore” has a bunch of iconic lines and hilarious moments. This is the peak of what a Sandler comedy could look like.

“It’s not the same cookie cutter Hollywood movie as all the new movies coming out,” said senior Owen Hoye.

“Uncut Gems” is without a doubt the best Sandler movie. It is a drama that was released in 2019 and is about a jeweler that tries to score big to settle his debt. This movie is super tense and Sandler gives the best performance in his career by far. It is definitely worth watching this movie before you get spoiled.

Sandler has a very unique filmography that any other actor won’t be able to match. Sandler’s next movie is “Happy Gilmore 2,” which will be released this summer and also stars Travis Kelce and Eminem.
