Fuquay-Varina High School will host its annual curriculum fair for rising freshmen and their families on Thursday, Jan. 30. The event will take place on campus, offering a chance for 8th grade students to get an introduction to the high school experience.
The fair aims to provide information on courses, clubs and other extracurricular activities available at FVHS. Teachers, staff, club officers and others will be available to answer any questions and show off the many opportunities there are for 9th grade students.
Those who attend can expect lots of displays, course guides/descriptions and other helpful material about different academic options such as honors and AP classes. They also get a chance to learn about electives, athletics and clubs that fit a wide range of different interests and career paths.
Coming to high school can be scary for many people because it is so new and unknown, but this curriculum fair can help to ease some anxiety and show students all of the good things that come with high school.
This curriculum fair can be not only helpful for rising freshmen but also current FVHS students. There is information about classes that students may not have known existed and the opportunity to explore the different options they may have for extracurriculars.
“When I was a rising freshman, the curriculum fair was really helpful for me to get an idea of what classes I might want to take,” said junior Sophia Bolotnova. “It was nice to see the school that I would be going to.”
Be sure to mark your calendar for Jan. 30. This curriculum fair will be a huge help and an amazing resource for students transitioning into high school.
