Every generation has faced its fair share of challenges, but recent generations seem to be facing difficulties that are more complex than ever. Previous generations faced challenges like economic recessions, wars, and politics, and today’s youth are confronted with the rapid increase in technology usage.

While people may say this isn’t as bad as a war, the impact that technology has on younger generations is far-reaching and overlooked. To be constantly looking at a device can cause physical and psychological issues.

Although every generation has access to the same technology, the latest ones have grown up in an environment where smartphones, computers and social media are easily accessible and are more present than they have ever been.

Older generations experienced life before technology, meaning they had time to adapt instead of being immersed from a young age.

Senior Aya Aani said, “It’s so sad because younger generations like Gen X don’t even realize how much they are missing.”

Face-to-face conversations, outdoor play, and deep, uninterrupted thinking are being replaced by digital interactions.

Younger generations are lacking social skills learned from physical interactions.

In order for the younger generations to not miss out on the joys of life, they need to limit their device usage and enjoy the world around them.
