Fuquay-Varina High School has been given grants to help its journalism classes improve the quality of their work. These grants, provided by the Fuquay-Varina Women’s Club and the town budget, were given to the yearbook and newspaper classes to enhance their resources and production.  

The newspaper class used the funds to buy new recording equipment. This includes microphones, a green screen, lighting, a phone mount, and a camera stabilizer. With these upgrades, the class can now create weekly videos that preview upcoming stories and capture events happening at school.

Adding video content is a big step forward and will help the newspaper connect with more students and staff while keeping everyone informed. The equipment also allows the class to try new things, like recording interviews or creating highlight reels for special events.  

The yearbook class also got a boost from the grants and has exciting plans for the money. They want to buy a tripod and a wide-angle camera lens, which will allow them to take better group shots with more detail and clarity. These wide shots will be especially useful for big events like pep rallies, sports games, or club photos. The students are excited about using these new tools to improve their photography and make this year’s book even better than before.
