Throughout history we have seen many individuals considered evil because of their actions and character. It may be shocking, but these people did not start out as evil, since every individual in this world is not born bad. Our childhood experiences can play a role in our moral development.
When we are born, we are born innocent, as a child doesn’t have any knowledge of what’s going on in the real world. It’s important that our parents care for us during our childhood because our childhood is the foundation for how we develop morally. Our parents teach us what’s wrong from right, correct our behavior, and influence our morals.
Many of you have probably seen a parent teaching their child to be kind. This is a crucial role in how a child develops morally. If a child is raised in a cruel environment that teaches them bad behavior, and allows them to embrace it. They are more likely to become bad person.
“I don’t think people are born bad. I think people are born in certain situations that influence them with having certain beliefs and values that can be considered bad,” said junior Ella Grace.
Although our childhood experiences can play a role in how we morally develop and build our character, it is our choice. We can choose to lean toward being a good or bad person
Greek philosopher Aristotle said, “It is our choice of good or evil that determines our character, not our opinion on good or evil.”
Many people around the world know about the evil dictator, Adolf Hitler, yet do not know about his childhood, which played a role in his moral development and character. During Hitler’s childhood he had a dysfunctional family. His father was cruel, and because of his uncontrollable rage, he used to beat Hilter. His father influenced Hitler with with his cruelty, which caused him to treat his sister poorly.
Even though Hitler’s childhood was a root cause of his cruelty, he still had a choice to become a good or bad person. He did not have to commit many wicked deeds.
Overall, it’s our choice if we become either a good or bad person. Our childhood experiences can influence it, but we as individuals have choices in our character. Everyone should at least try to become the best version of yourself, spreading good, instead of hatred.
