National signing day is a day to celebrate the opportunity for student-athletes to commit to a sport of their choice officially within a respective college. Fuquay-Varina High School hosted this special event to shine light on the dedication and tenacity these nine seniors have towards their future.
Each student will be signing a National Letter of Intent (NLI) or an Athletic Aid Agreement (AAA) which is determined by the program they commit to and can provide the student with an athletic scholarship, financial aid offerings, merit aid and more.
Senior Brison Strickland is currently committed to the University of Mount Olive. Strickland started playing baseball when he was 12 and has grown to new heights in his athletic career.
Strickland said, “Thank you to the high school program for getting me to be the player I am. I am very happy to continue my academic and athletic career at University of Mount Olive.”
Senior Molly Shields knew her goal since she was a kid and will be able to show the world her athletic talents when competing with others at Catawba College.
Shields said, “I’ve always played soccer since I was five. I was always an athletic little kid. I like soccer the best because I can co-ed and play against guys, so I can show other people that I’m strong too.”
Senior Chloe Webb is a hard working student and has shown that same strength and determination when playing softball. She is ready to show that strength at USC Aiken.
Webb said, “My future plans are to attend the University of South Carolina Aiken to play softball. I’m super excited to make my future plans become a reality and make it official today.”
FVHS is happy to support these students and to see their passions become their future careers. National Signing Day is something to commemorate and applaud the hard work and dedication as they take the next step in their careers.
