The Fuquay-Varina Bengals womens soccer team is focused on building on last season’s success, with fans and coaches alike anticipating even better results this year. 

After an impressive season that saw the Bengals exceed expectations and deliver standout performances on the field, the team is back with a refreshed sense of purpose and determination.

Last year, the Bengals consistently outplayed their competition, showcasing skillful teamwork, solid defense and a powerful offensive lineup. Key players emerged as game-changers, helping the team navigate a challenging schedule and achieve strong results. This year, they aim to push even further. 

Several players are participating in club soccer this fall season. 

Senior Molly Shields said, “I’m doing club soccer right now, it’s keeping me fit and prepared.” 

The team’s preparation begins this November, with a workout schedule designed to keep players in peak condition through January. Tryouts are slated for Feb. 12-14, with the coaching staff emphasizing that commitment to the Bengals means attending every training session and game. “All of us, always” has become the team’s mantra, reminding players that success depends on unity and dedication. 

The Bengals are looking to capitalize on the momentum of last season, setting their sights on claiming both conference and state titles. With a mixture of returning talent and eager newcomers, the team is primed for another impressive season. Senior players are especially motivated, determined to leave it all on the field in their final year with the Bengals.

“I think the team will do really well this season, and we are all very excited,” said senior Rachael Cunningham. “We have a lot of good pieces that make up our team, and we all have the motivation to make it further this year.”

With their focused mindset, the Bengals are committed to a culture of unity, resilience and hard work. Every player, from seasoned seniors to fresh faces, understands that they’re contributing to something bigger than themselves. Players and coaches alike have high expectations, eager to see the Bengals elevate their game and make a run for the titles.

 As the team enters the season with renewed determination and a shared goal, one thing is certain: the Bengals are ready to give their all this year. Starting with their first game at Battle of the Beach, on Feb. 28.
