Mark Zuckerberg, the creator of Facebook and one of the richest people in the world, did not graduate from college. He dropped out of Harvard University in his sophomore year of college to concentrate on growing his social media platform.
Another famous figure is Leonardo Dicaprio. Despite not growing up wealthy, experiencing poverty, and never attending college, he still developed a successful career as an actor and movie star.
There are many downsides to college. One thing is it doesn’t guarantee a high-paying career path, even though it can provide more opportunities for people who can attend. Many graduates have either ended up in jobs for which they don’t need a degree, wasting time and money.
“One negative I feel about college is how much classes cost in general,” said junior Sophie Monoz.
College is expensive. Due to its high cost, it’s not easily accessible to those who cannot pay for it. Students who enroll in college end up with student debt that they spend years paying, wasting away time they could have spent developing a career.
“I’m definitely pro college, but one negative is the availability. I feel like it should be more available to others,” said junior Ella Grace.
There are many careers you can get without a college degree. Not being able to attend college shouldn’t diminish your chances in developing a successful career path.
If you are interested in creating your own business, you also don’t need a college degree. With hard work and dedication, you can achieve your goals.
Overall college isn’t necessary, in fact, it’s not always the best option. If you can’t attend, it shouldn’t diminish your choices. You can become successful without college, like many other people have.
