The Interact Club at Fuquay-Varina High School put on their annual Fright Night event Oct. 26 and raised over $1,000 in donations. Fright Night consisted of a haunted trail, snacks, games, and much more. This year’s Fright Night was full of firsts, such as hosting the event at a different location and partnering with the American Legion and a Scouting America troop.
“It’s truly our biggest event for the whole year, and everyone was supportive of pretty much everything this year,” said Interact Club adviser Christine Fruth.
Fright Night is an annual event hosted by the Interact Club at FVHS to build community awareness and raise funds to further school projects and events. However, this year all of the funds are being sent toward the Hurricane Helene relief that is currently taking place in western North Carolina.
“It was really awesome that we were able to raise as much money as we did. It was definitely a surprise,” said Interact Club president Keira Flaviano-Reynolds.
This year Fright Night was held at a different location. Usually the event is held on the FVHS campus, however, with their partnership with the American Legion and a Scouting America troop, the club was able to hold the event at American Legion Post 116 in Fuquay-Varina. With their partnership with the scouts and other clubs in FVHS, Fright Night had many volunteers and a lot of help throughout the planning process.
“It helped so much to have the manpower of that troop, and we all worked collaboratively. It was really good working with them,” said Fruth.
The turnout for this year’s Fright Night was very successful, as the event raised a lot of money to go towards the relief efforts in western NC. The haunted trail was a big hit, and the families and other community members present had a great time.
