Cheering for your school’s sports team is a great way to show support. A couple of ways to show support is going to the games and joining in on the chants that your school may have.
Some schools have a group of seniors or older leaders in the school that form a group that will stand in the front of the bleachers and help get the crowd going and saying chants.
When you go to the football and basketball games, along with the themes to participate in, FVHS has an “Orange Crush” group of people that come together at games and help make the student section have more energy and support for whatever team they are supporting. The Orange Crush keeps the student section alive.
Junior Grace Meaney said, “Butterfinger!” and “We can’t hear you!” are her favorite chants to participate in.
Meaney enjoys the energy at the football games that the FVHS Orange Crush provides. She likes how it gets the crowd to interact with the game more.
“They get the crowd excited and make us cheer louder. They’re very important and they make the football games more fun to go to,” said Meany.
After each touchdown made by the FVHS football team, the Orange Crush has flags with the OC logo on them, and they will run down along the track with the cheerleaders waving the flags in celebration of a touchdown.
The Orange Crush is a very important part of football games with multiple people hyping up the student section to cheer louder, which really makes our school spirit higher.
