A new assistant principal has joined Fuquay-Varina High School. As assistant principals they carry many responsibilities that help our school function. Assistant principals work with students, teachers, and families, as well as play an important role to help our school become a better place.

Fuquay-Varina High School has a team of assistant principals that includes five members. Each member is important in their own way, contributing to the success of the school.

Delgado was born and raised in Puerto Rico. She is married and has three kids.  She earned her bachelor’s degree in education and master’s degree in school psychology in Puerto Rico. Deglado moved to North Carolina in 2015 and became a teacher assistant at Rooks Elementary School in Raleigh. She then became a special assistant teacher at Wake Forest High School for two years.  From 2017 to 2022, she was a Spanish teacher in Fuquay-Varina High School. Throughout 2023-2024, Delgado was an interventional coordinator. During her position as an interventional coordinator, she wrote an internship essay to become an assistant principal. The position was empty this past summer, and she was hired as assistant principal.

Delgado is thankful for her position as an assistant principal.

“It’s an honor to be an assistant principal. I love what I’m doing, the connection with the staff, teachers, students, and my community,” said Delgado.

Assistant principals have many responsibilities that help our school operate. Not only do assistant principals work with students, teachers, and families, they direct transportation and work with students on activities like the Homecoming dance and prom.

“It’s especially an honor as a Hispanic woman here in Wake County because it is bringing out more diversity. I love my school. It’s basically like my second home. I will do anything in my hands to continue improving my school and environment,” said Delgado.
