FVHS’s new flag football team is ready to take the field in their upcoming season. After a not so official season last year, the team this year is filled with returning or interested players.
The flag football team is led by Coaches Brad Wheeler and Tricia Myers.
Jaya Cureton, the team captain, said, “I think we are good competitors and definitely have a good team.”
The flag football team’s season officially starts on Monday, Oct. 14, but the team has already played two scrimmages at Middle Creek High School on Oct. 8 and at home on Oct. 10.
The team is striving to build a strong foundation this year, focusing not only on the competition, but also on school spirit.
The upcoming game will provide players with the opportunity to develop upon their skills and build teamwork.
Practices for the team have been fun with excitement and encouragement. The players have created a supportive atmosphere at practices where they encourage and cheer each other on.
“Our practices have been really fun,” said Cureton.
The excitement of the new flag football team has players and families waiting for more. With more games and a fresh season, support from everyone is important to get this new sport off the ground.
Make sure to catch their next game on Oct. 21 at Cleveland High School.
