The fall season has arrived. October is the time of year when it starts to get colder and the leaves start changing color. It is also a time for more community events to start popping up and people start getting into the holiday spirit with many opportunities for celebration coming up very soon.

The next big holiday to arrive will be the one where people dress up and trick-or-treat, also known as Halloween. With this holiday coming up, many events are available this month to get into the Halloween spirit.

One event around Fuquay-Varina is the FCCLA Trunk-or-Treat. This event will be hosted in the Fuquay-Varina High School staff parking lot from 2-to-5 p.m. on Oct. 26. Anyone is welcome and admission is completely free to the community, all you have to do is bring your trick-or-treating bag.

This event will have many different activity stations for kids such as face painting, coloring, corn hole and of course, trunk-or-treating. Everyone is encouraged to wear a costume and Fat Cat Ice Cream will also be there to serve tasty treats.

Another local event coming up soon is the Interact Club’s Fright Night. Fright Night has a haunted trail with many different activity stations for kids.

This event will also be on Oct. 26 and will have two different parts. From 4-6 p.m., they will have activities for kids, and from 7-10 p.m., there will be a haunted trail with many scares for the older demographic. Young children are not recommended to participate in the later trail as it may be too scary.

“Earlier in the night, we will do something for kids like a craft table and maybe even face paint. Just the more kiddy stuff meant for the whole family,” said Interact club vice president Danielle Johnson.

This event costs $5 for anyone 12 and up, $3 for anyone ages 3-11, and is free for anyone 2 and under. You are required to purchase the ticket in advance here.

It will have food, games and activities for everyone and is located at 6400 Johnson Pond Rd. behind the American Legion.

Another spooky activity you could attend this October could be a Fuquay-Varina Ghost Tour. At these tours ghost stories about the spooky history of Fuquay are told while walking around downtown. This is a fun way to get to know our town’s history better and get into the fall spirit. These tours will be on Oct. 11-13 and 25-27 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The tours are one hour long and $25 per person. A parent or guardian must accompany anyone under 16. You can buy your tickets here

These are a few fun activities to start off the fall season to help you get more involved in the community as well as excited for the Halloween season.
