The Hurricanes and the Predators faced off in a preseason match on October 2.
This game was at the Lenovo Center, the Carolina Hurricanes home ice. The stadium was crowded, and almost every seat was taken. Throughout the game, and during breaks in the action, they showed video clips of the Hurricanes making each other laugh, playing games with each other, and just having fun with each other.
In the first period of the game, the Hurricanes weren’t doing the best against the Predators. At the end of the first period, the score was Predators 4—Hurricanes 1. The Hurricanes were putting up a fight against the Predators; but the score did not reflect that.
After every time the Hurricanes scored, the stadium would play music and sound a horn, which made the home crowd get more involved. During intermissions, they would hold contests on the ice and play a game like answering a riddle or trying to match cards on the ice to win prizes. Every few minutes there would be a song and people would try their best to get on the jumbotron by using crazy dance moves or having tons of energy.
During the second period, number 62 Charles-Alexis Legault from the Hurricanes and number 47 Micheal McCarron from the Predators got into a fight. Both players received five minute fighting penalities. At the end of the second period it was Predators 5 – Hurricanes 2.
The third period resulted in the Hurricanes scoring two more goals; however, the Predators scored one goal. At the end of the game, the final score was Predators 6 – Hurricanes 4.
Between the two teams, both the Predators and Carolina played a good game and showed great sportsmanship with each other.
The Hurricanes start the regular season on October 11 against the Tampa Bay Lightning and hope that this 24-25 season will result in another Stanley Cup.
