The Fuquay-Varina varsity cheer team held their annual cheer clinic where they helped multiple groups of little girls to learn dances and cheers. The theme of the separate groups was ¨Eras Tour.¨
Varsity cheerleader Carrie Cameron said the Eras Tour theme was chosen ¨Because our coach loves Taylor Swift, and it fits with every group because every group is themed as an album.¨ Each group of cheerleaders was a different album from the Eras tour. Participants got a T-shirt, bow and a bracelet.
The cheer clinic was mainly created to provide a little extra money for the cheer team. Benny the Bengal was there to uplift the mood and make it more exciting. Benny also learned a few dances with the little girls.
¨It is an annual event. Last year we did it, and this year we are doing it, so I’m sure again next year we will do it,¨ said Cameron.
This year they had 60 participants in their cheer clinic.
The money that they raise will go towards a new cheerleading mat, uniforms for next year and bows. The little girls will perform with the cheerleaders at the Sept. 20 football game.
