On September 6, 2024, the varsity football team went up against Holly Springs. There was tension in the air. Holly Springs took the field on their first home game of the year. Fuquay has been showing some real improvement compared to last year. The Hawks have also improved compared to the last game they played.
The Bengals got shut down by the Holly Springs Hawks’ defense. Unfortunately, the Holly Springs team was on the board first with a touchdown by Caleb Williams. 7-0 in the first quarter. Markel Jones from the Hawks got a touchdown making the score 17-0. After a field goal. Freshman Matthew Ziglar from the Bengals powered through the Hawks’ defense, making the score 17 to 7. The Holly Springs Hawks sealed the win with Tracy Harrington scoring; making the final score 21-10.
Sophomore Alex Furr said, “They’re very enthusiastic, although they are not winning all of their games, they’re still trying their best and working hard.”
This Friday’s home game versus Clayton will be an important conference matchup, as the Clayton team is 3-0.
