Singer and songwriter, Billie Eilish came out with a new album “Hit Me Hard And Soft” on May 15, 2024, with 10 new songs. Eilish’s last album “Happier Than Ever” came out in 2021, so when this long-awaited album was released, many fans were excited to listen to her new songs.

“She never fails to make good songs. Picking a favorite song sounds wrong,” said senior Laniyah Montgomery.

Her songs are popular among many teens who relate to her lyrics on struggles with depression, self-image and relationships. 

“It’s between a couple of songs. I think I like ‘Wildflower’ the best because the melody and the lyrics are very relatable,” said Montgomery.

The song “Wildflower” is about her past relationship that affected her friendship.

“That whole song is kind of like a “girl code” song, it’s like a breaking a girl code thing, and that’s the most challenging place…” said Billie Eilish in “Hit Me Hard And Soft” Apple Music Interview. 

Eilish’s lyrics carry different meanings that can be interpreted and applied in different ways, making it easier to relate to her as a fan. 

According to the Billboard Chart, “Lunch” was one of many other fans’ favorites. The melody of “Lunch” is different from any other song on the album, making it stand out. The lyrics are open to interpretation, but they also showcase her sexuality which was a surprise to many fans. 

Eilish seems to be most proud of her song “Birds of Feather.” 

“The part where I belted, that was the highest I’ve belted in my life,” said Eilish.

For many fans, they can feel that her being comfortable and proud of her own skills are a relief, as we all know that it was hard for her to do so.

Eilish’s new album is out now, having an influence on many teens more than ever. Fans are already looking forward to her next album.
