Fuquay Varina High School has recently changed the finals schedule. Instead of having one final per day over the span of four days, they are now doing two finals in one day in the span of two days. Is this too much for us students?
During the end of the school year, the excitement of summer is always in the air, but the stress of getting through finals is always the first priority. I liked having one final a day to worry about, and then getting to go home, study, and get enough rest for another final. But cramming two finals in one day is way too stressful.
The new schedule includes exams for your first and third period classes on the first day, and second on fourth period on the second day. This is nice because you can get it all over within a couple days. But some classes are most definitely harder than others, and having two stressful classes in a day is just a closer step to failing.
On a positive note, you will be able to have a combined lunch so everyone will be together for one hour. It seems nice, but in the old schedule, we were able to go home right after finals. Exam days will seem longer with three hour testing sessions.
After getting a lot of students’ opinions, most students didn’t like the idea of this. The only plus side they said was the fact that they can have an hour lunch and be with friends they can’t be with sometimes.
“The new final schedule to me is not necessary. It makes me stress out more and won’t let me go home early after a stressful three hour testing session. I don’t think they made the best decisions, and it should go back to normal,” said freshman Maddox Kooistra.
I don’t like the new final schedule because it will cause more stress for me with the classes and getting my finals done on time. FVHS should go back to its normal final testing schedule.
