There were 450 celebrities that were invited to the Met Gala, on May 4, 2024. The “Garden of Time” theme worked in conjunction with the Costume Institute’s spring exhibition “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion”.

The Met Gala is known for many iconic outfits worn by celebrities like Rihana or Zendaya, and many outfits that were questionable.

This year’s theme was “Garden of Time,” and many people expected to see outfits that incorporated flowers/nature.

“I think the best outfit was Ariana Grande’s. My least favorite was Doja Cat’s. I also thought that men who wore suits were a little boring,” said junior Meaghan Rouse.

Ariana Grande’s dress was popular for her fairy makeup look, which fit the theme. Many people were confused about Doja Cat’s wet towel look. She explained that towels are made out of cotton which is a type of flower, and her history behind it made sense.

“I loved Tyla’s and Elle Fanning’s dresses. I think Doja’s dress was questionable as well,” said junior Samara Montgomery.

Tyla’s dress incorporated sand and hourglass, which was on the theme of Garden of Time. Elle Fanning, who played Aurora in the movie “Maleficent,” wore a dress made out of organza fabric that created a glass effect.

There was a group outfit, where each of their outfits was made out of Swarovski crystals in different colors. Karlie Kloss, as well as Anok Yai’s pink and blue crystal dress, received much recognition for their outstanding shine.

The Met Gala receives many mixed opinions each year, making the viewers excited for the next year’s theme to drop, as well as who will be wearing these fantastical outfits.
