The FVHS mens tennis team is approaching the end of their season. So far, they have a record of 8-4. A few players, including senior Drew Smith and sophomores Monish Allada and Porter Reese, are undefeated this season.
“This season is going very well. It looks like our team will place 3rd in our conference. Our team is growing and learning. Hopefully next year we can take that number one spot in our conference,” said sophomore Porter Reese.
The Bengals are 4th in the Greater Neuse River 4A Tennis Standings out of the eight teams. Also, in NC Class 4A East Tennis Standings, they are 15th out of 50 teams. The FVHS Bengals conference record is 8-2. This season is going well for the Bengals and will likely lead to the playoffs.
Some players are expected to make it out of the conference tournament and play in regionals. For instance, freshman Holden De Vente has a good chance of making it to regionals due to his performance this season.
The FVHS tennis team has many graduating seniors including Pierce Ransdell, Charlie Bird, and Drew Smith. These seniors, as well as the rest of the team, are putting hard work into this season and support each other during their matches.
“Playing tennis with the team is great because everybody picks each other up. Whenever one of us is down in a match, we always encourage them to keep their heads high and not give up,” said freshman Colten Mendler.
The FVHS tennis team continues with their determination and their passion for this sport. As they grow they will continue to make great impacts in the tennis world.
