People enjoy many different genres of music. Music is somewhat a therapy to some, as it perfectly depicts someone’s feelings. Music has over 40 genres, but the most popular right now are country, rap/ hip-hop, and pop.
So what is the best genre of music then? Students at Fuquay Varina High School all had different opinions. The most popular genre here at school was rap/hip-hop. The least-rated music genre was rock.
You might know some of the biggest rap artists like Drake, Kanye West, Eminem, etc.
“I like rap the best, it just uplifts my mood because there are so many different songs in rap that can apply to you,” said freshman Rachel White.
The next highly-rated genre of music was pop. Pop music is the highest-producing genre of music and has been around for some time. From Michael Jackson kicking off the rage of pop to Justin Beiber, Miley Cyrus, and many more.
“I like pop music because I can relate to a lot of the singers, but I do prefer rap,” said freshman Abby Hills.
Country music has also been the rage this year with new chart-topping songs like ”Fast Car,” ”Last Night,” “Something in the Orange,” and many more.
“Country music is my favorite because it kind of relates to where we live here in Fuquay because it’s a small town,” said freshman Will Ihnantolya.
So is there a “best” genre of music? After interviewing students, most of them prefer rap, but the best genre of music just depends on you. If you are happy, sad, or excited there’s always an artist or even a song that can match the mood.
