At FVHS, each sport hosts their end-of-season banquet that recognizes the achievements made throughout their season. Other high schools host big banquet events where all the sports from that season celebrate each other.
“It’s really two-sided because if you have one with your team it’s a bonding moment, but if you have it together, then all the light is on all the sports,” said junior track athlete James Pedro.
Most athletes agree with the large banquet idea and believe that we should come together and celebrate each sport.
“It’s all different sports coming together,” said junior football player Delmar Barber.
Other athletes, like junior volleyball player, Addison Stancil, believe that we should keep celebrations separate
“I think it’s just better on its own, to be honest. We don’t really know anyone from the other sports teams,” said Stancil.
Smaller banquets are a great team bonding moment and create a calmer environment for the activities. However, bigger seasonal banquets would still be a fun experience that would allow the sports to come together and celebrate each other.
