This Sunday, Dec. 17, figure skating fans will have the opportunity to witness a captivating display of talent at Polar Ice Raleigh in their winter show.
Sophia Bolotnova, a sophomore at FVHS, will be performing at the show alongside other skaters.
“There’s about 46 programs in about two hours and 15 minutes, including the intermission,” Bolotnova said.
The skaters have been preparing for the show for weeks, perfecting their choreography.
“The past few weeks skaters have been working on their programs, the choreography, their jumps and spins, and how to be on beat with the music,” Bolotnova said.
Figure skating is not just a sport for these athletes; it’s their passion.
“I love skating because even on days where I don’t feel like practicing or on days where I feel like nothing’s working out, I still have the motivation to do better. Skating is my home,” said Bolotnova.
