The FVHS mens basketball team has had a rough start to their season, currently posting a 0-3 record.

The Bengals lost their first game of the season against Holly Springs High School, 50-39.

Fuquay did better in the second half than in the first, scoring 25 in the second, and only 14 in the first. The Bengals also held Holly Springs to 18 in the second half, after letting up 32 points in the first half.

The second game of the season was against Green Level High School. Fuquay once again was better in the second than they were in the first.

Fuquay scored nine and had 38 points scored against them in the first. The second half saw the Bengals putting some more points on the board, with another 25 point second half. The final score of this non-conference game was 67-34, in favor of Green Level.

The third game of the FVHS basketball season was another loss against Holly Springs. The Golden Hawks put up a season record of 68 points while the Bengals scored 31. The excuse of being a second half team did not hold up in this game. The Bengals were held to less than 10 points per quarter, while Holly Springs scored 27 in the third quarter.

These three losses can be put up to the fact that both of the teams they have played are undefeated so far.

The Bengals highest scorer is Abdou Diop, with a total of 27 points, averaging nine points per game.

“I feel like we can win the game tonight; I feel like we could’ve won every game we have played,” said Diop

The next game for the mens basketball team is on Thursday, Nov. 30, at home against Apex High School. They will also face rival Middle Creek High School at Middle Creek on Friday, Dec. 1.
