The 2004 Christmas movie, “The Polar Express,” left viewers with a feeling of joy and Christmas spirit. Fortunately for all Christmas lovers, you can enjoy the same feeling of Christmas spirit on the real-life attraction, “The Polar Express Train Ride,” located here in North Carolina.

The attraction is beloved by many due to the memories that flood back when simply watching the movie. Visitors of the attraction are even encouraged to come in with their pajamas to get the full Polar Express experience.

Sophomore Tyler Compton stated that when he thinks of the movie, he remembers sitting comfortably with family around, enjoying hot chocolate, and indulging in the Christmas spirit.

“The Polar Express Train Ride” has on average over 90,000 passengers per year and takes those passengers through Bryson City, NC. The attraction lasts around 70 minutes, giving passengers the time to enjoy the view of the wilderness and hot chocolate.

Throughout the ride, the passengers are given hot chocolate while they listen and read the magical story that is “The Polar Express.” Later on, the train “arrives” at the North Pole to pick up a very special guest, Santa Claus. Santa Claus then greets all of the children aboard giving each of them a silver sleigh bell. On the way back to the station, iconic Christmas carols are sung.

Junior Emmabelle Weaver stated that she liked the idea of the attraction, and that when she would watch the movie as a little kid, she would focus on how big the train was.

The train begins taking passengers to the North Pole on Nov. 9 and will run through Dec. 31. Tickets vary and costs range from $34 to $390 depending on the different classes there are on the train.

Junior Devan Langlois stated, “When I heard about it, It brought tears to my eyes. It was so magical. To think that the Polar Express came to life is just like wow.”

If you are planning to attend this year’s “The Polar Express Train Ride,” vendors recommend getting your tickets as soon as possible.
