A new gossip topic in pop culture is emerging. Popular football player, Travis Kelce and renowned pop singer, Taylor Swift are in the spotlight as a result of dating rumors circulating.
Travis Kelce is a 33-year-old tight end for the NFL Kansas City Chiefs. Kelce’s professional football career with the Chiefs’ has consisted of 11 seasons, with a total of 74 touchdowns. He has played in eight Pro-Bowls and has proven to be a valuable player to have on the field.
FVHS Spanish teacher Shenandoah Ortiz agreed.
“He is super hardworking on the field,” she said.
Taylor Swift is a 33-year-old singer and songwriter with global influence in the music industry. Her career started with her self-titled debut album, ‘Taylor Swift,’ which was released in 2006. Her rise to fame has been exponential. Swift’s recent tour, ‘The Eras Tour,’ has earned billions of dollars in revenue, resulted in sold out stadiums, and excited fans across the world.
“She’s a talented artist, I like how she writes her own music. I think that’s cool,” sophomore Brianne Jones stated.
These rumors began when Swift was spotted cheering on the Chiefs at their previous two games. Kelce and Swift have been seen together at these events. Due to the dating rumors between Swift and Kelce, it has brought lots of attention to their individual careers. Football fans and fans of Swift alike are curious about how their beloved superstars became a suspected item, leading to internet searches for both Swift and Kelce to begin to trend.
Jones said, “It’s (the rumors) getting her more popular. It’s giving Travis Kelce more fame.”
There is no doubt that these rumors have sparked a new wave of public interest in pop culture and new perspectives on the industries.
“I think that it is bringing a lot of attention. True fans of the NFL think it’s a distraction,” said Ortiz.
