“Prime Time” in Boulder
December 15, 2022
When football fanatics hear the name Deion Sanders, they think of the two-time Super Bowl champion, six-time All-Pro, and eight-time Pro Bowl corner. Over the last two years, however, we have heard his name in the college football world as a head coach.
From 2020-2022, Sanders was the head coach at Jackson State University. In his time at Jackson State, he went 23-2 and won the SWAC Championship game in both seasons. In 2021, Jackson State, with the influence of Deion Sanders, has risen to the top of the HBCU college football world and has caught the eyes of many college football teams in the country.
In Dec. 2022, Deion Sanders became the head coach for the University of Colorado Boulder. Over the past 20 years, Colorado football has been a bit of a laughing stock, as they haven’t won a bowl game since 2004 and haven’t had a winning season since 2016.
Sander’s nickname is “Primetime” as he’s always had swagger and flair for the dramatics with him. Upon Sander’s arrival in Boulder, he had some tough words for his team.
“I’m bringing my luggage with me and it’s Louis,” said Sanders. He also told the team that he was done with the losing culture in the locker room, and said to “jump the portal” if they aren’t ready to work.
It’s going to be fun to watch college football in the upcoming years, with the expansion of the CFB playoffs and now with Sanders at Boulder. Needless to say, it’s a fun and exciting time to be a fan of Colorado.
