After her 6 year hiatus from music, Rihanna has stepped back into the music spotlight. The Barbadian singer is a fashion icon to many and a pop icon of the 2010s. Known for her bold and edgy persona, she always leaves a long-lasting impression on people. With the recent news of new music and a Super Bowl performance coming, she has left fans of hers in total shock and ready to see what she has in store for them.

Her new song is titled “Lift Me Up” and was written for the new movie “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.” The song features soft vocals, various angelic string instruments, and her powerful voice to wrap everything together. With lots of harmonies and emotions, Rihanna creates a very ethereal and delicate song for listeners to deeply connect with.

The chorus of the song, Lift me up/ Hold me down/ Keep me close/ Safe and sound,” shows the desire and want to just be loved. It’s a feeling that some can take for granted at times, and Rihanna shows the pain and sadness someone feels without it. With great vocal range and control, she evokes feelings of pain, love, and a deep desire to feel a connection with someone special.

Not only is her music a way she could express herself, but she found other ways to let people feel just as empowered as she felt. After her last album “ANTI” was released in 2018, Rihanna has ventured out into different industries. She created a makeup line, Fenty Beauty, and a lingerie line, Savage X Fenty. She always makes sure to include so much diversity in shades and clothing sizing, allowing everyone to feel understood and accepted for who they are.

Over 99 million people watched last season’s performance with Snoop Dog, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar. With one of the most influential celebrities of the 2010s making a comeback, who knows how many people will tune in to see her performance? With fans ecstatic to see her comeback, the Super Bowl XLVII halftime show will allow her to show fans of all ages that she’s back and better than ever.
