The Bulls are back in action

DURHAM, NC- The Durham Bulls are back in action this month, as they will open their season on April 5 against the Nashville Sounds. Their home opener at Durham Bulls Athletic Park will be on April 12.

The Bulls will have a tough act to follow this season. Last year, Durham finished the year with a 77-43 record, which was good for first in the Triple-A East. The Bulls would go on to collect every accolade possible. They would win their league championship (the Governor’s Cup) and the Triple-A National Championship. Durham would also be recognized as the Minor League Baseball Organization of the year.

This year, the Bulls are once again slated to be one of Minor League Baseball’s top teams. This is thanks to Vice President of Baseball Operations, Mike Birling and Assistant General Manager, Scott Strickland. These held this team to a standard to which most minor league clubs aren’t held. The bigger fish in Tampa Bay (Durham’s MLB affiliate) are also to credit for the Bulls’ recent success. They have turned the Tampa Bay organization into a powerhouse at all levels.

Prospect players, such as Johnathan Aranda, Josh Lowe, and Shane Baz, headline this year’s roster. This year’s rendition of the Bulls will look a lot different from last year’s. This is due to the incredible success of last season’s National Championship team, meaning many Bulls have been called up to MLB rosters, including rising star Wander Franco, who was called up to the Tampa Bay Rays.

This year should be the first normal year in a while for the Bulls. This is because Covid canceled the 2020 season, and the 2021 season was met with constant hurdles. This year will be a fantastic return for the Bulls.

The return to the DBAP will be headlined by fun events, like Bark in the Park, Star Wars Night, and many more theme nights.

Things are lining up for this to be quite the summer in Durham.
