The Bengal Varsity volleyball team finished 13-1 in the conference this season, making them conference championships. The team was coached by Bill and Jen Klink.

This season’s roster was composed of six juniors and seven seniors. The team had multiple highs throughout the season, however, Coach Jen says that the highlight of the season “Was being the conference champions playing in a new conference…We only lost one conference game this season.  We also had three players earn All-Conference Honors and one player that was named defensive player of the year.”

Every sports team faces adversities and challenges throughout a season. This year was especially difficult for FVHS varsity volleyball, as they were required to wear masks while playing. “Besides having to play another season with masks, it was finding the right combination of players that had the chemistry together to put points on the board,” said Coach Jen Klink.

The Bengals are looking forward to next season and will have a strong lineup of returners. “We have some strong rising seniors that helped contribute to our success on the court this past season as well as some JV players that we believe will add depth to our roster for the upcoming season.  This should help our next season be a competitive one,” said Coach Jen Klink.

With the new conference this season, FVHS faced a completely new set of opponents. However, out-of-conference games still posed some setbacks, but the team continued to push through and win. “Our pre-season games were a little rough for us early on as we faced teams that were normally in conference games for us like Holly Springs and Middle Creek,” said Jen Klink, “The turning point was when we beat two tough teams in this new conference, Cleveland and Corinth Holders.  When we won against Corinth Holders, it was their first conference loss since their 2020 season and gave our girls a lot of confidence as we continued through the season.”

The Bengals look forward to another winning season next year.
