The Princess and the Frog came out on Dec. 9, 2009. This old animated classic is about Tiana whose dream is to open the finest restaurant in New Orleans. This movie has twists and turns that detour, Tiana, from achieving her dream goal. Tiana meets Prince Naveen who was turned into a frog by a voodoo doctor. The pair then goes on an adventure through the bayou trying to find a way to turn them back into humans. This Disney movie includes a beautiful cast of Anika Noni Rose, Bruno Campos, Keith David, and many other wonderful mentions.

This movie is a classic, sweet, animated musical film. Music is something that has always given me a sense of calm and peace. The Princess and the Frog’s soundtrack is very different from the other Disney princesses’ soundtracks. The soundtrack has more soul than any other genre.

The Princess and the Frog gives a lasting impression when you first hear Almost There. This song, which was sung by Anika Noni Rose, left a lasting impression on me. When I first heard this song during the movie, I just wanted to dance. This film has so many good songs like Friends on the Other Side by Keith David,  When We’re Human sung by Micheal Leon-Wooley, Bruno Campos, and Anika Noni Rose, featuring Terrance Blanchard. These songs made up my childhood and have affected me in a positive sense having seen the movie.

This movie was the first Disney movie where I saw someone who looked like me. This film made big history when it came out on the big screen, the first Disney princess movie with an African American leader who wasn’t even a princess. The fact that there was a princess who looked like me, made me so happy and inspired while watching this movie. The plot of the Princess and the Frog showed me that I can do anything I want, as long as I work hard towards it.

The plot of this story was wonderful, it shows all of the culture there was during the Roaring Twenties in New Orleans. The movie tells this love story in a great way, Prince Naveen gets tricked by a voodoo doctor and needs the help of Tiana. The story takes us down through the Bayou and you meet characters that are inspired to figure out a way to do what they aspire to do. The Princess and the Frog does a great way to show how money could corrupt a person. Lawrence agreed to change Prince Naveen into a frog because Lawrence wanted fame and the money he never had.

Overall, The Princess and the Frog is one of my favorites of all time. I have lifelong memories of this movie, and it will always be a comfort for me. The plot just puts me automatically in a good mood. I am always so invested when it comes to watching or talking about this wonderful Disney masterpiece. I would recommend this movie to everyone, it should be a right of passage. I would rate this movie 5/5 paws.
