Flourish through self love

Some mornings you wake up with negative thoughts that just don’t seem to go away. Luckily, there is a secret weapon to combating your inner lies. That is self-love, the appreciation and acceptance of oneself, and the key to a happy and fulfilling life. 

So how do we achieve it? Researching mental health professional Kristen Meekhof,  a therapist and psychologist, shares her opinions about habits you can try  first thing in the morning to better yourself for the long run. 

Taking  five  minutes to meditate: Meditation can help calm  your mind and refocus your attention to the present. Spend five minutes doing a quiet meditation, focusing on love and your inner strengths.  “A morning meditation offers you a sense of calm. During the day, when things become stressful, you can think about your empowering meditation,” said Meekhof according to and article in mindbodygreen.com.

Make Your Bed: Starting your day off with an accomplishment is a super helpful way to help increase your mood and self-esteem. “By doing this, you are starting your day accomplishing something great and prioritizing yourself,” explained Meekhof in mindbodygreen.com article.

Read Morning Affirmations Out Loud To Yourself:  “I am who I am and I am exactly who and where I need to be.  I am worthy, I am enough, I am valid, and I am loved” are just examples of what you should tell yourself every morning before starting off your day. “Reading an affirmation first thing in the morning can help deflect any negative thoughts that you  may have in your mind,” Meekhof shared in the article.

Everyone deserves love and acceptance and to feel the best they can. Real self-love requires consistent and harsh commitment over a long period of time. Self care should be a priority to help achieve your personal short and long term goals. So let’s just all take 10 minutes in the morning for ourselves and allow yourself to reflect and better ourselves.
